I hate you

This performance was an experiment: I pushed the boundaries of communication in an attempt to discover the tipping point for when a lie becomes a truth.

Me and my partner repeated “I hate you” to each other, with the audience finding themselves caught in the middle of the exchange.

Why do I not believe it?

What makes me confident that this sentence is a lie?

Is it the context in which we say it, or is it a subconscious emotional connection?
